Painting Duragutter

Painting over powder coat is a simple process. Follow these instructions to ensure that the paint adheres properly: 

​

1. Wash the gutters with water and mild detergent (1-2 Tbsp of dish soap per gallon of water). Rinse with clean water, let dry completely.

2. Scuff the gutters lightly with a red Scotch Brite pad. (We can include this with your order). 

​

3. Wipe the gutters with a damp microfiber cloth. 

​

4. Apply the primer. Use Insl-X Stix Water-Based Acrylic Urethane Bonding Primer or a similar bonding primer. Follow primer instructions on drying time before applying finish coat. 

​

5. Apply finish coat(s) of desired exterior paint. No special paint is required, as the primer is bonded to the powder coat.
